MŪZA | SCREENING & DIRECTOR TALK

March 8—7:00 pm9:00 pm

On Friday, March 8 at 7 PM, join us for a screening of Lithuanian documentary Mūza (dir. Agnė Marcinkevičūtė, Lithuania, 2023)!

Director Agnė Marcinkevičūtė’s up-close portrait of esteemed Lithuanian pianist Mūza Rubackytė moves freely between the musician’s homes in Paris, Geneva, Budapest and her native Vilnius. But her life wasn’t always this free—like many Baltic artists of the late Soviet generation, Mūza languished behind the Iron Curtain for years before she was able to fully realize her dreams. This is a film about an artist and her life—one that brings the viewer into the beautiful, yet personally taxing world of art music. As the artist opens up about what independence, love and passion mean to her, the costs of her talents also reveal themselves.

The screening will be followed by a film talk with Agnė Marcinkeviciute.
