ABOUT TEXTILE TAKEOVER

TEXTILE TAKEOVER aims to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange, accessibility, and meetings within textile art and craft between the Nordic countries and the USA. The project plans three public events during 2024 and 2025, involving textile artists with connections to the Nordic region. Each event will focus on a theme or aspect of textile craft, which will be discussed and explored through meetings between artists active in the Nordic countries and the USA. The project aims to create visibility for contemporary Nordic textile crafts and make them accessible to a broader international audience. The project will also explore the potential of exchanges between Nordic and American textile traditions and movements. Each event will also highlight one of the Nordic art schools with a focus on textiles.

TEXTILE TAKEOVER is a Nordic textile collaboration project initiated by Ragna Froda (ISL/US), Director of New York Textile Month, Evelina Hedin (SWE), international coordinator at Konsthantverkscentrum, and Emily Stoddart (CA), manager of exhibitions and community programs at Scandinavia House, New York.
