Celebrate the holidays this season Nordic-style at Scandinavia House! This year’s events feature a Holiday Julbord (Christmas Table) on December 9 & 10, presented by Björk Cafe & Bistro at Scandinavia House, as well as our Annual Holiday Concert on December 10 at 5 PM with members of the Swedish Church Choir in NYC.
A traditional Christmas in Scandinavia is not complete without the traditional julbord, a holiday variation of the quintessential Smörgåsbord buffet-style meal in the Scandinavian countries. Our Swedish julbord includes multiple staples of Scandinavian cuisine served on the table. This year’s seatings at Scandinavia House will feature a long buffet table overloaded with the Scandinavian classics such as herring, gravlax, meatballs, Jansson’s temptation and more. Seatings for lunch and dinner on Saturday and for lunch on Sunday will be accompanied by Lucia performances; dinner guests for Sunday are encouraged to attend the Annual Holiday Concert at 5 PM. ASF Members receive a 15% discount off all seatings.
The Annual Holiday Concert is a festive performance featuring Scandinavian and American holiday favorites as well as a traditional Saint Lucia procession, replete with traditional gowns and glowing candles. Learn about the history of Lucia, one of the most popular holidays in Sweden, while enjoying music from members of the Swedish Church Choir in New York.
