Released in 2018, the Finnish absurdist comedy and heavy-metal rock-opera Heavy Trip (Heivi Reissu, dir. Jukka Vidgren and Juuso Laatio) follows the members of “Impaled Rektum,” an amateur metal band based in a small village in northern Finland. Twenty-five-year-old Turo and his band mates have been playing for 12 years without a single gig. But when they have a chance meeting with the organizer of a major Norwegian heavy metal festival, they’ll stop at nothing to play their first festival — even if it means stealing a van, a corpse, a coffin, and a mental-patient drummer to get there.
