Join us on October 29 for a discussion with Craig Dykers and Elaine Molinar of Snøhetta! In this program, Dykers and Molinar, the recipients of the ASF Cultural Prize at the 2024 Spring Gala, will discuss the work of their world-renowned integrated architecture, landscape architecture and design company.

Based in New York City and Oslo, Snøhetta have designed numerous landmark projects including the Oslo Opera House, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and the Times Square redesign. Presented in the Curtis L. Carlson Distinguished Lecture Series, their discussion will also explore recent and upcoming projects including the Blanton Museum of Art redesign and the La Nube El Paso Children’s Museum, among others.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Craig Dykers co-founded Snøhetta, an integrated architecture, landscape architecture and design company in Oslo in 1989 and in 2004, established its office in New York. The studio focuses on well-being, biodiversity, sustainability, and empowering the communities where they work. Mr. Dykers has led many prominent projects for Snøhetta including the Alexandria Library in Egypt, the Oslo Opera in Norway, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the redesign of Times Square in New York City. Mr. Dykers has served as a Diploma Adjudicator at the Architectural College in Oslo and in recent years has been a Visiting Professor at Syracuse University, Cornell University, Parsons and Washington University in St. Louis. He has lectured extensively in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Mr. Dykers received a bachelor’s degree in architecture at the University of Texas, Austin and was a 2019 recipient of the Texas Medal of Arts. He has been an Advisory Trustee of ASF since 2012.

Elaine Molinar was also part of the team based in Norway that established Snøhetta in Oslo in 1989 and in 2004 opened the firm’s New York City office as they expanded their work throughout the U.S. As Managing Director, she currently supervises the operations of Snøhetta’s U.S. practice. She is also an active architect in the firm’s U.S. practice and is currently leading the Snøhetta team that is designing the firm’s first children’s museum, in El Paso, Texas. Her focus on work is rooted in fostering dignity, a sense of belonging, and the collective right to the enjoyment of public space. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Elaine Molinar was a 2019 recipient of the Texas Medal of Arts. In 2022 she received the Beverly Willias Award for Mentorship, recognizing her deep interest in nurturing the future generation of design professions.
