On December 7, see a screening of the short Swedish film Deck 5B (Däck 5B), a candidate for Best Live Action Short Film at the 97th Academy Awards! Director Malin Ingrid Johansson will be present for a film talk following the screening.
Recently divorced Mia (Alma Pöysti – Fallen Leaves) goes on the first holiday with her new love. Torn between parental responsibility and the longing to simply let go, Mia will realize she has put herself and everyone else in an impossible situation. The 2024 Winner of Best International Short FIlm at the Toronto International Film Festival, Deck 5B is a film about longing, passion, broken promises and dog hair. It is a film about the price we pay for freedom. You could also say it’s a ghost story.
ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Malin Ingrid Johansson is a Swedish director. Born and raised on a farm in rural Sweden, Malin is just as handy with a tractor as she is with a camera. She started out as a stills photographer, before transitioning into directing music videos and short films. Her short film Madden (2023) premiered at the Berlinale, going on to win a number of awards.
