In this supernatural romantic thriller from one of Norway’s most internationally renowned directors, an adolescent country girl (Eili Harboe) has just moved to the city to begin studying at university, after having been raised under the religious severity of her quietly domineering mother and father. When she realizes that she is developing an attraction to her new friend Anja (Okay Kaya), she begins to manifest a terrifying and uncontrollable power that her parents have long feared. A  fluid, sharply observant, and continually surprising film, Thelma  begins in the key of horror and ends somewhere very different. Directed by Joachim Trier (Reprise). A release of The Orchard. Special thanks to the Norwegian Consulate.
