Scandinavia House presents Saturday Art Workshops for children ages 5 and up. This spring, art workshops for kids explore themes related to our exhibition Nordic Impressions. Each workshop begins with a brief visit to the Gallery, followed by an art activity. Workshops include “Warm and Fuzzy: Mobile Making” (March 16); “Cut it Out: Collage Art” (March 23); and “Bird is the Word: Claymations” (March 30).
In today’s workshop, kids will see and be inspired by the work of Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir’s mobiles Nervelings (2018), which journey through hyper-natural rainbows of color to explore self-expression, vanity, beauty, and mythology. After seeing the works, kids will build playful mobiles using wool, pom-poms, and other soft materials, adding character through a combination of colors and structures.
